Our Primordial 4-Pack Organic Sterilized Grain Spawn Bags are expertly formulated to maximize the speed and size of your mushroom grow. Created by mycologists, these bags are the perfect starting point for growing high-quality mushrooms with a spore syringe or liquid culture.

Each bag contains a proprietary grain blend made with hydrated, nutrient-rich organic millet and wheat berries, designed to enhance mycelial growth. These bags come equipped with a self-healing injection port for easy inoculation and a 0.2 micron filter patch that blocks airborne contaminants while allowing for optimal gas exchange. (Note: Color of the injection port may vary.)

Why Millet?
Millet is an ideal choice for grain spawn because it has a much lower endospore load than other grains like rye or wheat, making it less prone to contamination. Its small size also creates more inoculation points per volume, resulting in more even mycelial growth throughout the substrate, encouraging rapid expansion.

Sterilization Process
Our Primordial grain spawn bags are sterilized in a commercial-grade autoclave, with sterility verified using biological indicators and temperature sensors. This ensures the highest quality and safety for your mushroom cultivation.

Spawn to Bulk Ratio
We recommend using 1 lb of colonized grain spawn for every 5 lbs of manure or hardwood sterile substrate. For 3 lb injection port bags, we suggest 2.5-5cc of inoculant.

Inoculation
To inoculate, inject your spore or culture syringe through the self-healing injection port in a sterile location. Be sure to use clean hands and gloves to reduce the risk of contaminants. We recommend waiting a minimum of 1 week after the bags arrive before injecting them to ensure their integrity.

Colonization
Once inoculated, store the bag in a cool location, avoiding direct sunlight. The optimal incubation temperature is between 55°F and 75°F. After a couple of weeks, mycelium should begin to grow, with visible white threads emerging from the injection point. When the grain is fully colonized, break up the mycelium inside to accelerate the colonization process.

Storage
Grain bags should be stored at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. They can be stored for several months before use.
